Exploring Colorado

Last Monday (Oct 13) we came down to Colorado to begin an intensive search for a job. We are staying with Dave and Valerie Johnson (Lisa's sister) in Fort Collins. They've been really good to us, and have given us special help looking at apartments and jobs. They have four children, Rachel, Erin, Calista, and Nathan. They're good kids. Dan likes to play and rough house with them.

On the job hunt, we've developed some good contacts for jobs. Hopefully, Dan will be meeting with two of them Monday. Dan is looking for jobs in Corporate Finance, like Financial Analysis, Budgeting, etc... With the difficulty of finding entry-level, college-graduate positions, he thinks he'll have to start out in a more basic job type.

We decided that we'll have to move to Colorado to make a serious job search. We love the area and feel that it is the right place for us at this stage of our life. We spent a good amount of time searching apartments last week-both on the web and on the street.

Saturday, the Johnsons and us went to the Bishop's storehouse in Aurora. Their ward canned around 500 cans of dry-pack foods. Lisa, Dan, and Nathan showed up after the main packing was done to help box, label, and load the goods. Dan thought the whole process and its purpose was awesome! He had never been to a Bishop's storehouse before. He wants to design and implent an efficient process for orders and processing for wards. It would be awesome!

After that we were going to a science museum. We saw friends from our BYU-I married ward. It was a freak meeting. We were in the car about to turn into the museum parking lot and we saw Matt and Brittany Canady driving away. Dan called him and found he had a job interview the day before and that they would probably end up in the Highland Park area. It will be good to have friends in the area.

After abandoning that idea because the museum parking lot was unbelievably packed, we went looking for apartments. Valerie came with us to help. It was a bit stressful. Then we all went to Sweet Tomatos for dinner. It was a great! A buffet of fresh, good, food. Dan isn't much of a resturant man, but we'd definitely go there again.

Yea for Denver!!! What area are you looking at for apartments? North? South?

You said the Canadys were going to be in Highland Park? Do you mean Highlands Ranch? That is EXACTLY where we will be moving in January.

We are going to be in Denver right before Thanksgiving (Nov 20 - 24), so if you are going to be around, we would love to do lunch or something?
